Things to keep in mind for setting up a Mandir at home
A Mandir is an auspicious space in a house where the idols of your
gods reside and look after and protect the family. It is a very important area
or room of an household as it can have implementations on how the energy of the
house would be. Therefore, keep these things in mind while setting up a mandir
at home.
Partition:
It is always important to have a demarcation between the mandir
space and the rest of the house. It’s best to have two wooden doors but if not,
things like partitions, curtains or doors of any other materials also work.
Height:
Always place your ideas at a height above the floor and not directly on the
floor. From platforms to shelves, there are many options for the placement of
the idol, but the floor should always be avoided.
Idols:
Always place your idols on the north east direct, or in each of them
respectively. Also always ensure that you don’t place a broken idol in your
mandir, it is bound to bring in misfortune and bad luck. Last but not the
least, make sure the idols never face each other or the door immediately,
remember to space them out.
Storage:
A mandir has a lot more than just an idol. Pooja items like incense sticks, bell, ghee, cinnamon and other essentials are
all part of a mandir. Make sure to have drawers or baskets so that each of
these items has a proper place and do not clutter the mandir. The most
important thing to remember is to protect the sanctity of the mandir and always
keep it pure.
